This group will look at different types of sacred art and how they intersect with prayer. Using the practice of Visio Divina, (“divine seeing”), this group will “pray with our eyes” by considering and discussing a photograph, an icon, a sculpture, a painting, or other visual representation of sacred art. Visio Divina allows the viewers to experience the divine in a unique and powerful way by using our sense of sight. We can use the art as a focal point for prayer and a discussion of scripture. This group will meet monthly or bi-monthly in the evenings with the possibility of a seasonable daytime local trip to a museum/church to view sacred art as well. Our Cornerstone sisters meet regularly and we tried this approach during our last meeting, and we’re thinking other parishioners might really like to experience it. Please know that we will use some materials/training from the online Catholic Ministry called Behold Visio Divina (www.beholdvisiodivina.com).
