Art and Prayer

Meetings on the third Wednesday at 7 PM of each month at Saint Helen.

This group will examine various types of sacred art and their intersection with prayer. Using the practice of Visio Divina, ("divine seeing"), this group will "pray with our eyes" by considering and discussing a photograph, an icon, a sculpture, a painting, or other visual representation of sacred art. Visio Divina allows the viewers to experience the divine uniquely and powerfully by using our sense of sight. We can use the art as a focal point for prayer and a discussion of scripture. This group will meet monthly or bi-monthly in the evenings, with the possibility of a seasonal daytime local trip to a museum/church to view sacred art as well.
